2006 - Canadian Junior Goalball Championships

Welcome Letter

On behalf of the Ontario Blind Sorts Association, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our very first Canadian Junior Goalball Champitonhips. It is with great enthusiasm that we approach this weekend tournament which we hope will become an annual event.

Special thanks to Mick Ferras, Mike Bruls and all of the many volunteers who have dedicated so much time and effort in organizing the event. Your development of this sport which continues to grow in the competitive and spectatorship popularity is very much appreciated by the OBSA.

The Ontario Blind Sports Association was formed in 1976, making this year the 30th Anniversary of a very close working relationship with our partner the W. Ross Macdonald School for the Visually Impaired. The W. Ross Macdonald School has always support our association, making their facilities and human resources available to us in hosting both Ontario and National Games. A very special thank you to all of those people involved for the assisting and supporting our mandate to provide competitive sport opportunities for visually impaired athletes.

Ontario welcomes all athletes, coaches, referees and support staff, along with the spectators. Many have traveled from across Canada and the United Stares to attend and complete in this event. We know that you will enjoy the competition and sportsmanship, as well as renewing old friendships and making new ones during the weekend event.

Good luck and enjoy!
Yours in sport,

Shirley E. Shelby,
President

On behalf of the W. Ross Macdonald staff and students I would like to welcome everyone to our first International Tournament. We are very excited to host this tournament as Goaball is a hudge part of our school and residential sport programs. As the only school for the visually impaired in Canada, visually impaired athletes get their first exposure here to this exciting sport, we are proud of our role in this intentional sport.

I would like to wish all competitors good luck and I would like to thank the organizing committee for all their hard work, as I am confident that the competition will be excellent.

Don Neale,

Principal
W. Ross Macdonald School
